Artist Statement

I am my art. It is an outward show of my inner creative spirit, one of the most personal expressions of self.

Through my mis-structured method of work, I allow my mind to flow from project to project like the ebbing tides of the ocean.

The sands that line the ocean floor and the materials that I shape into my art end up roughened, rippled and pitted from the constant ebbing flow of work.

Inspired by the effect one element has on another; such as rain cascading through sandstone cliffs, tree sap slouching under the push of gravity, and the crumbling piles of rock erected by erosion and the passage of time.

These textures, shapes and movements are the inspiration for my hands to transform raw material into my jewellery.

The appeal to make my work go against the tide has slowly tightened its grasp on my heart and is wrenching until I fold. With less focus on the easiest route, my work has begun progressing and developing simplistic natural inspirations into displays of my creative spirit.
